Santo Nino

St. Augustine's is the " adopted" Church for many Filipino-Americans in the Philadelphia area. There is a unique replica of the 450-year old "Santo Nino" statue in the church which symbolizes the unity of the faith of the people and the Augustine's in the Philippine Islands and the people and Augustinians in Philadelphia. Santo Nino, the Holy Child Jesus, is one of the most popular devotions among Filipino people.

Special devotions to Santo Nino ( the Holy Child) are held every Sunday after the 11:00 a.m. mass. Everyone is invited to join in this devotion to the patron of the Philippines. (Arrangements are being made to include a Filipino Augustinian in the Augustinian community at St. Augustine's so that we will be able to provide regular masses, devotions, and confessions in Tagalog, the native language of the Philippine Islands).
