Sacraments

Baptism

Parents requesting baptism for their child should make arrangements at least three to four months in advance of the scheduled time for baptism. Baptisms are celebrated on the second Sunday of each month; normally during Mass. Baptisms usually do not take place during Lent. An instruction session is required for parents presenting their first child for baptism.

Eucharist

Parents requesting First Eucharist for their children should contact the Parish Office at the beginning of the school calendar year. Reception of this sacrament usually occurs in the Easter season.

Reconciliation

Confessions are offered on Saturday from 4:30-5:00 pm and on Sunday from 6:15-6:45 pm or by appointment. Additional times for Confessions will be posted during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Confirmation

Parents requesting Confirmation for their children should contact the Parish Office. Because St. Augustine's has few candidates for this Sacrament, Confirmation usually occurs every other year or on an as needed basis. Adult candidates for Confirmation receive instruction through the RCIA.

Marriage

Marriages are scheduled for parishioners of St. Augustine. Arrangements must begin at least ten to twelve months in advance to allow adequate time for preparation. Parishioners are asked to contact Fr. Jim to schedule a wedding. Requests for non-parishioner weddings should be directed to Rosemary Morse, Pastoral Assistant, ext. 18. Acceptance of non-parishioner weddings is determined after consultation with the priests and provided the request does not conflict with scheduled parish activities. Under most circumstances, Friday evening weddings are not scheduled because of ongoing parish activities. We do not offer Sunday weddings.

Anointing of the Sick

Please inform the Parish Office if any member of the parish is sick and wants to be visited and/or receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

Faith Formation and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Adults requesting baptism or baptized in another faith tradition seeking Full Communion in the Catholic Church do so through this process. This program also welcomes adults baptized Catholic who are seeking to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. The period of instruction is usually nine months.
